Snow Day!

This picture was taken about 2:30 today.

It is snowing to beat the band here (there's an expression you don't hear much anymore) and consequently both Mr. Bump's and my office have closed for the day. Mr. Bump officially has a snow day tomorrow, and I don't yet know if I will (right now we're scheduled for a 10:00 start with the possibility of a 5:30 a.m. phone call cancelling school--I mean work) . But Ms. Ruby has been very happy to have us home.

My commute home at about 11:45 took me twice as long as it should (and I was white-knuckling it all the way), and that's only because I only have about 4 miles to go. My brother-in-law, (another Mr. Bump) works a normal-day 30 to 45 minute commute from home, and it took him from 1:00 pm to 5:30 to get home.

I really don't want to have to go in to work tomorrow. So far we have about 22 inches of snow on our deck table, which you can sort of see in the picture. At one point Mr. Bump leveled a portion off so we could see the progress--we've gotten about another 10 to 12 inches since then.

But in the meantime, we've made chocolate covered peanuts, butter cookies (in the shapes of snowflakes), and Mr. Bump has shoveled the deck for little Ms. Ru about 5 or 6 times since he got home at 11:30. What a man. We also watched The Incredibles (again) and a couple of episodes of The Daily Show. What a heavenly snow day. I just hope we have another one tomorrow so I can get all my presents wrapped (the ones I have). Of course, more than one more day and this storm has designs on ruining my Christmas. Hopefully it is supposed to taper off tomorrow and then we can get up to Loveland for the weekend!

Here's the picture taken about an hour ago:

That crazy dog can't wait to go back out in it. And of course she needs a pretty significant towelling off once she is back inside.

But we're listening to music about dreaming ofa white Christmas and we're snug as bugs in a rug. We've got plenty of cocoa and marshmallows, and although we've exhausted our butter supply on fudge, caramel corn, shortbread, wheat thin crackes and graham crackers (is that it?), we've got plenty to snack on and we're hunkered down to ride it out.

We've blown through 10 pounds of sugar and 4 pounds of butter this Christmas, but I want to assure you all that these are gifts for many, many people and no one person will be consuming more than a pound of sugar and a stick of butter.

I'll leave with a couple more pictures of frolick in the snow, fresh from the digital camera:

This one is after Ruby has been digging for snowballs.

Snow day!

Bump blogging!

I am so jealous of all that snow. Nothing but sopping rain here...wet boys, wet doggie, wet cats.

Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah, Happy Festivus!
